‘The Forever Purge’: First image and plot details from the latest ‘The Purge’ movie

The premiere of the fifth and final installment of ‘The Purge’, titled ‘The Forever Purge’, is finally getting underway. The Blumhouse Productions saga distributed by Universal went through a tough 2020 when it had to indefinitely delay its premiere and cancel the spin-off series ‘The Purge’ by its own creator, James DeMonaco, after only two seasons of little success.

But far from giving up, DeMonaco and company have got down to work to start raising the hype and thus close the saga in style. And the director of the new film, Everardo Gout, says that “it is an amazing story of Latinos and Americans who come together to overcome despair and evil.”

In addition to a first photograph that may remind us of a certain recent demonstration in the United States, the argument will focus on the relationship between Latinos and Americans, one of the most common debates within the Trump era. Gout also spoke to Total Film about DeMonaco’s intentions to conclude his saga: “He’s dystopian, but he tries to make us look in the mirror. It makes you think: shit, if they corner me, would I do the same?”

The plot, revealed along with the image, will be set after the events of the third film in the saga, ‘Election: The Night of the Beasts’. It will revolve around Adela (Ana de la Reguera) and Juan (Tenoch Huerta) in their quest to seek refuge on a Texas ranch during the night of the Annual Purge, after having fled a drug cartel in Mexico. Things will get tough when a group of outsiders continues to carry on their “purge” beyond the legally allowed time.

“When I came up with the idea and I presented it to everyone, they seemed excited, and I think it will be a very good ending, how we take this home,” said James DeMonaco of his latest script written for the dystopian saga. It is expected that ‘The Forever Purge’ will hit theaters in the summer in Spain, in the United States it will do so on July 9, 2021.
